The practice employs a team of architectural historians. Under the direction of one of the senior partners, they work on Conservation Management Plans and Heritage Impact Assessments, undertaking extensive research and acting as the editors for the finished documents.
With backgrounds in archaeology, architectural history and practical conservation work, they are expert at tracking down the appropriate information and making an assessment of its value.
The great skill that our historians offer – something that many architects lack – is the ability to write clearly. They produce concise, accessible documents that are easy for clients to use.
The historians’ expertise is invaluable to many of the practice’s projects. Where schemes involve historic or listed buildings, the team can provide an assessment of the history and significance of the site even though a Conservation Management Plan may not have been commissioned formally.
