Mark combines his role as a Senior Partner with his work as an architect closely involved in the minutiae of major projects. To both aspects of his professional life, he brings the same high level of commitment and expertise at the strategic and operational levels. Since joining the practice as a trainee architect almost 20 years ago, he has been responsible for some of its most prestigious projects, including the renaissance of St George’s Hall, Liverpool. This £18 million scheme involved both conservation and sensitive new additions to the city’s greatest historic building.

Using his considerable people-skills, Mark takes particular pride in building and running highly-motivated, enthusiastic teams which deliver complex projects on time, on budget and to the most rigorous standards of quality. Whether the project is a multi-million pound conservation and repair scheme or a bold, imaginative design for a new housing development, Mark gains great satisfaction from inspiring his in-house team, together with contractors and specialists, to go the extra mile for the client.

With a well-earned reputation for getting quickly to the nub of an issue, he has forged strong relationships with major statutory and funding bodies including English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund, working closely with them over many years. Mark’s expertise in advising clients seeking funds has helped them secure almost £100 million to conserve and improve key examples of the nation’s most important buildings and landscapes.

"I believe that collaboration should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved, whether you are conserving the best of the past or building anew."
