Chris is inspired by the great buildings of the past. He is equally passionate about bold contemporary design and believes in timeless, sustainable solutions. Pursuing these dual interests, Chris has acquired a broad spectrum of expertise. He has led projects encompassing the design and construction of new buildings, the creative adaptation of historic buildings, and the care and repair of listed buildings.
Before its merger with Purcell Miller Tritton in 2004, Chris worked for Martin Stancliffe Architects. Here, he was involved closely with Martin Stancliffe on major adaptation, reordering and repair projects at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.
As a Partner of the practice, Chris is responsible for leading teams, ensuring a high standard of client service and maintaining and improving the quality of architectural work. He enjoys working collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and team members. He particularly enjoys working with private clients on residential projects, where his ability to ensure that the client’s objectives are thoroughly understood is invaluable. Chris gets great satisfaction from working with his team to lead the successful delivery of a project from inception, through approvals, to completion on site.
Chris’ key skill is his ability to take a strategic overview of a complex site and to devise an imaginative solution. This expertise is evident at the recently completed development in the precincts of Wells Cathedral and in his studies for the rationalization of space for the precincts of Canterbury Cathedral.
‘When working with either historic buildings or new design schemes, I seek to achieve a timeless and sustainable solution.”
