Suzi has a wealth of experience acquired from an unusually diverse portfolio of work. Having worked across the residential, commercial, educational, healthcare and hospitality sectors, her experience ranges from social housing schemes to the refurbishment of listed buildings.
She also has extensive experience as a master planner of residential schemes for the United States Air Force in the UK. In this role, she was responsible for creating townscapes incorporating up to 800 residential units to accommodate the needs of the US military whilst complying with British standards. The logistical skills she acquired have stood her in very good stead throughout her professional career.
Since joining the practice's Cambridge studio in 2006, her primary focus has been on large-scale, complex schemes in the practice's growing hospitality sector. Her key skill is her ability to think strategically to get the best outcome from every scenario. She also enjoys inspiring her team to work collaboratively and think creatively to solve problems.
Suzi is a strong advocate for environmentally responsible design, and she is keen to work alongside clients to find appropriate and fully integrated solutions. She is encouraged that traditional techniques are returning to the fore as their environmental benefits are more widely appreciated.
She has always been fascinated by historic architecture and has relished the opportunity to work on prestigious historic buildings, including the Palace of Westminster and Clare College in Cambridge, during her time at the practice. Whether she is working on a refurbishment project or a new building, Suzi gets great satisfaction from working in historic buildings and places. She believes that designs can be more creative within the specific constraints and rich context of the historic built environment.
