Nigel is a professional technician who came to architecture twenty-four years ago from a contracting background. His experience as a Contracts Manager for a structural steel and metalwork fabricator gives him a strong rapport with contractors on site as well as an intrinsic understanding of practical issues.
Before joining the practice's London studio, Nigel's architectural experience encompassed conservation work on Scheduled Ancient Monuments and Grade I listed buildings as well as more conceptual design schemes, including the Regent Street Christmas lights.
Nigel specializes in procuring conservation based building projects and managing them on site. He has a particular interest in creating and developing specifications for conservation work and has collaborated with English Heritage to write descriptions of historic repair techniques. Through this work, Nigel has developed a specific interest in stone repair and cleaning methods.
Since joining the practice, Nigel has continued to run large-scale projects from conception to completion. Recent projects include The Royal Courts of Justice, Somerset House, Hampton Court Palace and Nyn Park, a new country house in Hertfordshire.
