The Hyde wins prestigious RIBA Award

The Hyde, Dillington House

We’re delighted that The Hyde Building has won a prestigious Regional Architecture Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The awards, which have been running since 1966, are given to buildings that demonstrate architectural excellence.

The Jury Chairman congratulated the team on The Hyde’s visionary design and thoughtful relationship to its historic setting. The £3m building sits in the grounds of Dillington House. The Grade II* listed mansion has been Somerset County Council’s centre for adult education and life-long learning for over fifty years. The Hyde provides much-needed new facilities, including two large studio spaces, a large dining area, 15 bedrooms and a sculpture court. The design includes many sustainable innovations, including solar heating, rainwater harvesting and a grass roof.
