The practice has completed a refurbishment of the historic Carlton Club in St. James's Street.
The Carlton Club was founded in 1832 by a group of Tory MPs and remains a Conservative club today. The practice led refurbishment works to much of the Grade II* listed building, including the lavish Churchill and Macmillan Rooms. It is believed that the members gathered in the newly refurbished rooms during discussions about the formation of the coalition government.
Mark Goldspink, CEO of the practice, said, "Both the Macmillan and Churchill rooms are principle spaces for the Club's activity, so we were under pressure to deliver within very tight timescales."
Both spaces were redecorated and re-gilded to transform their appearance. The colour scheme for the Churchill Room was based on Pugin's Yellow Dining Room at Brighton Pavilion. Previously a cold and formal space, it is now flooded with brilliant, warm light.
The Carlton Club has amassed a substantial collection of political and state portraits. Luckily much of the collection survived a WWII air-raid that destroyed the Club's previous premises on Pall Mall.
Mark Goldspink added, "It is fantastic to be associated with a place that has witnessed such significant occasions in the nation's history. If the walls could talk, I'm sure they would have some fantastic stories".
